Guidelines for Competition in the South African Automotive Aftermarket?

The guidelines aim to provide Independent Service Providers (ISPs) access to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical repair information, original parts as well as diagnostic tools and test equipment, required to service and repair the vehicles in the market.

Volkswagen Group South Africa has committed to a phased compliance of the guidelines as of the 1 July.

How to obtain access to VW Group Technical material?

The registration process can be archived by following the 3 steps below:

1) Register your ISP on the erWin online website

By doing so, you will receive access to the VW, VW Commercial and AUDI vehicle repair manuals.
You will also have access to the Digital Service Schedule (DSS) linked to specific Vehicle Identification Numbers.

The erWin website will provide details on the following topics:
- IT system requirements
- Flat rate payable online for the software access

NOTE: Follow the detailed registration guideline to ensure full functionality.
Additional functionality options will require you to register on an external partner website who will verify your information prior to being able to access the VW systems. Additional registration costs apply.

2) Register your company for ODIS Diagnostic access (Optional)

ODIS Diagnostics will allow your company to perform vehicle diagnostics as well as guided fault finding.
The process includes external check to ensure your company complies with minimum VW Group requirements.
All ODIS related software will be available from the erWin website with a flat rate payable online.
3) Register your company for FAZIT/GeKo access (Optional)

The additional access will allow your company to perform various vehicle control unit coding.
The process includes external vetting to insure that your company complies with minimum VW Group requirements.
Mandatory secure access will be provided through a SecurID (valid for 4 years) at a nominal additional cost.

How to purchase genuine parts & special tools?

All genuine parts and special tools will be made available to your company through the existing VW Group Dealer Network.

When purchasing special tools, you will be requested to supply your contact details.
This is a requirement in the event of a dealership having to contact you regarding a specific tool purchase.
All your Personal Information (PI) will be kept confidential in compliance with the POPIA Act.

How to apply for VW Group specific training?

All relevant training programs and material will be made available through VW Group Technical Training at a standard fee.
